Restoration & Rebuilding

The restoration and rebuilding of pianos is our forte here at Piano Workshop. We routinely have a wide variety of instruments under going a range of work here in the workshops. From small or remedial cosmetic work such as key-re-facing or a full case re-polish through to restringing, action repair and regulation, hammer reshaping and re-voicing, as well as repairing, constructing and fitting new soundboards, bridges and pin-planks, no job is considered too large. Customers are actively encouraged to come and visit the workshop where they can see first hand the variety and quality of work we undertake routinely each day.

Key Benefits

  • The look of your instrument: all cosmetic work undertaken from re-facing keys, repairing watermarks or light bleaching or casework repair and re-polishing, including the frame.
  • The feel of your instrument: keys, key-bed and actions are all stripped down and rebuilt in house. We can improve the regulation and touch of your instrument and ensure an even, crisp action. We can also supply, fit and regulate new German Renner actions.
  • The sound of your instrument: from re-shaping and re-voicing the hammers, replacing and resetting the dampers, shimming and re-curving and even remaking the soundboard and bridges, we can help your instrument to sound its finest once again. We also fit new pin planks to help ensure long-term stability in tone and tuning.
